The five steps to advertise a wedding venue: audience and platforms, attract, nurture, convert and grow

Wondering how to advertise your wedding venue? It isn't about being everywhere. It's about reaching the right couples at the right moment, then making it easy for them to book. Spend money on ads without the rest of the process in place and you'll get clicks, not weddings.

This is the same step-by-step process we use with the wedding venues we work with. Follow it in order and every pound you spend on advertising works harder.

  • Step 1: Choose your audience and platforms.
  • Step 2: Attract the right couples.
  • Step 3: Nurture every enquiry.
  • Step 4: Convert tours into bookings.
  • Step 5: Grow with tracking and testing.

Step 1: Choose your audience and platforms

Define your ideal couple

Before you write a single ad, get specific about who you want to attract. Where do they live, and how far will they travel? What's their budget and guest count? What style of wedding do they want? Which dates do you most need to fill, and which peak dates should you protect for your highest-value bookings?

Write it down. Your ideal couple shapes every decision that follows, from targeting to the photos in your ads.

Know what sets you apart

Look at the other venues competing for the same couples. Search for the phrases your couples would use and see who's advertising, what they're saying and where the gaps are. Your ads should make it obvious why your venue is different: the setting, the exclusivity, the food, the team or the price point.

Pick the right platforms

Each platform reaches couples at a different stage of planning:

PlatformBest forWhere couples are
Google Search adsCouples actively searching for a venueReady to compare and book tours
Google Performance MaxReaching couples across Search, Maps, YouTube, Display and GmailResearching and comparing
Facebook and Instagram adsNewly engaged couples in your area, plus retargetingDreaming and shortlisting
Pinterest adsInspiration while couples planEarly planning
TikTok adsYounger couples and authentic videoDiscovering ideas
Wedding directoriesCouples browsing venue listsComparing options

For most venues, the strongest starting point is Google Search for couples who are ready to book, plus Facebook and Instagram to reach newly engaged couples and retarget your website visitors. Add Pinterest and TikTok once those are working.

Set a realistic budget

Plan on a minimum monthly ad budget of around £1,000 / $1,000 so your campaigns have enough data to learn from. Put that in context: the average UK couple now spends £21,990 on their wedding and £272 per guest, according to Hitched, so a single extra booking can cover months of ad spend. Judge every channel on cost per enquiry and cost per booking, not clicks or likes.

Step 2: Attract the right couples

Research the exact searches your couples make, like “exclusive use barn venue” plus your county, or “luxury wedding venues near me”. Target them precisely by location, and add negative keywords to stop paying for searches that will never book, such as jobs or cheap party venues. A mix of Search, Performance Max and remarketing campaigns covers couples at every stage. Read more about Google Ads for wedding venues.

Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok let you reach newly engaged couples by location and life stage, before they've even started searching for venues. The creative does the heavy lifting here. Analysis by Nielsen of around 500 campaigns found creative accounts for 47% of the sales lift from advertising, more than reach and targeting combined, as reported by MarketingCharts. Use real photos and video of your venue and real weddings, and test several ads to find what stops the scroll.

Keep your targeting focused. Ads shown to too broad an audience, with no hint of price or style, are the most common reason social leads go quiet. For inspiration, see our 40 wedding venue social media post ideas. And here's how to run the perfect Facebook ads for your wedding venue.

Send every click to a page built to convert

Never send ad traffic to your homepage. Build a landing page for each campaign that's fast on a phone, shows your best photos, answers the key questions (capacity, location and a price guide) and makes the next step obvious: download the brochure or book a tour. A website built for venues makes this much easier.

Write ads that set expectations

The best ads attract the right couples and politely put off the wrong ones. Bridebook found 88% of couples expect to see pricing online without having to ask. Mention your style, your guest capacity and a “weddings from” price guide, and lead with a clear offer: a brochure, a private tour or your next open day.

Step 3: Nurture every enquiry

Most couples won't book on their first enquiry. They're comparing venues, talking to family and checking dates. The venues that win are the ones that reply fastest and follow up most thoughtfully. Research in Harvard Business Review found that firms that contacted a lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it as those that waited even one hour longer.

Set up a simple follow-up sequence across email, SMS and WhatsApp:

  • Straight away: an instant reply with your brochure, a price guide and a link to book a tour.
  • Within a day: a personal message from your team, answering any questions they asked.
  • A few days later: a real wedding or video testimonial from a couple like them.
  • About a week later: a friendly check on dates and an invitation to visit.
  • When they go quiet: a re-engagement message weeks later, perhaps about a date that's just become available.

Stop the automated messages as soon as a couple replies, so the conversation feels personal. A wedding venue CRM handles all of this automatically and keeps every enquiry in one inbox. Meanwhile, retargeting ads keep your venue in front of couples while they decide.

Step 4: Convert tours into bookings

Your advertising gets couples through the door, but the tour is where the booking is won.

  • Prepare. Use what you learned in their enquiry, from their guest count to their dream style.
  • Show the day, not the rooms. Walk them through the wedding in order, from arrival to the last dance.
  • Listen for passion points and worries. Note what they loved and what they're unsure about.
  • Follow up within 24 hours. Revisit those moments, answer the worries and make the next step clear.

If plenty of tours aren't turning into bookings, look at your tour, your follow-up and your offer before spending more on ads. Sales coaching for your team can make a big difference here.

Step 5: Grow with tracking and testing

Track every step from ad to booking so you know exactly where your money works hardest:

  • Cost per enquiry for each platform and campaign.
  • Enquiry-to-tour rate: how many enquiries become tours.
  • Tour-to-booking rate: how many tours become signed contracts.
  • Cost per booking and revenue by source.

Set up conversion tracking on your forms, calls and tour bookings, and record the source of every enquiry. Then review your results monthly: cut what isn't working, put more budget into what is and keep testing new ads, as creative wears out over time.

Common wedding venue advertising mistakes

  • Sending ad clicks to your homepage instead of a dedicated landing page.
  • Targeting too broadly, then wondering why leads go quiet.
  • Judging ads on clicks and likes instead of enquiries and bookings.
  • Slow replies, which waste the leads you've paid for.
  • Stopping campaigns before they've had time to gather data.
  • Running the same ads for months until couples stop noticing them.

Wedding venue advertising FAQs

What is the best way to advertise a wedding venue?

Combine Google Ads, to reach couples actively searching, with social media ads, to reach newly engaged couples and retarget website visitors. Send every click to a dedicated landing page and follow up every enquiry quickly. The ads only work as well as the process behind them.

How much does it cost to advertise a wedding venue?

It depends on your location, competition and how many dates you need to fill. As a guide, plan on at least £1,000 / $1,000 a month in ad spend, plus the cost of managing your campaigns, and judge it on cost per booking.

Google Ads or social media ads: which is better for wedding venues?

They do different jobs. Google Ads reaches couples who are already searching, so leads are often closer to booking. Social media ads reach couples earlier and are great for building demand and retargeting. Most venues get the best results from both.

Are wedding directories worth paying for?

They can be. Directories help couples comparing venues find you, and their links can help your SEO. Judge each one on the enquiries and bookings it brings, and compare the listing cost with your cost per booking from ads.

How long does it take for wedding venue advertising to work?

Ads can bring enquiries within weeks, and campaigns improve as they gather data. Most venues see meaningful results within 90 days.
